A Proud Momma Moment: The Stone Was Rolled Away

I had a proud Momma Moment today. After picking up Jonathan from school, he was sitting in his chair playing with a few rocks. I was getting Ethan in the car. All of a sudden, I hear him say as he holds up a rock, "The stone was rolled away."

I was very surprised, but saw a teaching opportunity so I ran over to his seat and asked, "Who was inside?" Then he replied "Jesus wasn't there." I asked, "Where did he go?" Then he said, "3 days." I asked, "What happened after 3 days?" Then he said very slowly, "Do not be afraid." I asked, "Who said that?" Then he replied, "Teacher Kerri."

This was the first time I really felt like he understood a biblical story. In the past, Jonathan has been able to tell me something that was talked about that day like Joseph and Mary, but he was never able to answer any questions. This time he was able to tell me all the major parts of the story. At his preschool, there are weekly themes and the teachers talk about and reinforce the story all week long. I now know that things are sinking in. He made me laugh and I feel so proud of him.
