I got to take Bob to his first Sounders game today. As a matter of fact, it was his first professional soccer match ever that he has attended. He got me tickets for my birthday and I really wanted to take him. He had arranged for my mom to watch the boys, but as it turned out, Bob's parents were in town so they watched the boys.
We got down to CenturyLink Field and found a great parking lot-The Salvation Army parking garage was letting people park for $8. Next door were 2 $10 lots, which were the lots I had originally planned on parking in. We got one of the last spots. The walk to the stadium was not that far at all and Royal Brougham has totally been redone so pedestrians have to walk up a circular ramp, same one that cars drive up, to reach the street which eventually dumps you out on a ramp that goes down to meet with the original street. I remember the DOT redid this street because I guess too many pedestrians were getting hit by trains walking to and from the stadiums.
Once we got to the stadium, we walked around for a few minutes and then made our way up a ramp to the top level. It was a long walk, but a gorgeous view at the top and our seats were right in the front row of the third level. Great seats because you could see the whole field. I liked these seats even more than when I went with season ticket holders in the 100 level, but on an enzone. We also got free hot dogs, nachos, pretzels, peanuts, bottled water, and bottled pop. The sun was shining, but we were shaded the whole game. So great. We also sat about 2 seats down over and 2-3 rows down from Angela, Desney, and their 2 boys who were at their first Sounders game. Out of all those people, we sat that close to our friends. What a coincidence. I also got a new Sounders shirt on sale and a scarf.
The only negative to the game was that the Sounders lost their first game in 9 matches and they really did not play well at all. Kasey Kellar made an uncharacteristic mistake and scored on himself and one of the guys missed a PK off to the left goal post.
Overall, we had a great time and Bob said he would go again. What a mostly great experience.
